HOW MUCH I LOVE BASEBALL?? LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. My Astros aren't off to a great start, but we have a decent lineup this year, so it's possible. So far, after 1 inning against the Cardinals, our pitcher is better, but the Cards' fielding is better than ours. But, a steal by our lead-off guy was called out when it appears that he had already hit the bag when he was tagged the by second baseman. Stupid blind umps.

Yes, I'm heckling the TV. Is that weird?

I also get to use my icon again! It's coming out of retirement. Yay!

ETA: OMG we have PUDGE Rodriguez at catcher! I watched him play when he was with the Rangers back in the mid '90s. Awesome. I really need to convince Mom to go to a game here at Minute Maid when the boys are playing at home.

Triple Grr.

Dr Who Stressed
A general message to those who may have not voted for So You Think You Can Dance: WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!?!? Freaking voting people made the show lose the best dancer in the history of the show. GRR.

Also? The air mattress I've been using as a makeshift bed sprung a leak due to cat claws and I currently have only the stupid uncomfortable couch. Double GRR. Mom maybe be stopping at the Walmart to get another one, but I hate that we have to spend money on another one because I can't get up the stairs to my room. Hopefully, the physical therapist will tell me next week (if/when I can make an appointment) that I can drive and climb the stairs. At the moment, it hurts too much to do so.

Also, I'm having a big huge problem with the pharmacist and now orthopedist's office over a prescription. All I have to say is I'm most likely switching my drugs to the Walmart across the street from my Wal-pharmacy and switching docs. Because this guy and his staff are all nothing but lazy assholes. No, I don't feel strongly about this matter at all.

But enough about me... how 'bout them Astros? Oh, wait, they're losing, too. Shit.

Why baseball is cool

Still depressed that the NL lost the All-Star game (damn Jeter), but it allowed the Astros to pick up Aubrey Huff. And he just hit a homer in the 8th in his first game as an Astro to bring the score from 2-1 with the Marlins to 5-1. That rocks. Majorly.

*in singsong* We have him ba-ack... the Rocket ro-ocks...

Yes. That's right. Roger "The Rocket" Clemens has re-signed with the Astros for one more season. (As if Astros fans really had any doubt he'd go back to the Yankees or sign with the Rangers. Please.) They're saying he'll start playing at the Single A affiliate in Lexington, KY where his son Koby plays. He'll then go on to play in Corpus and ROUND ROCK on June 16 WOOOHOOO!! I'm gonna be trying to get me tickets to that, you bet your ass. To see the Rocket pitch at a small ballpark like the Dell Diamond? Hell yeah.

Life is good again.

Astros
Nail-biter. 14 innings. Against the frickin' Dodgers. The Dodgers. Anyway, the Astros would have WON in the 9th had there not been a sac fly. Ugh. I couldn't watch the came due to the fact that no one wanted to air it (and I don't have the $$ to get the MLB package from the cable company, which I so would if I could afford it), so I had to make due with the play-by-play from espn.com. Which is just not the same. What strikes me is that the 'Stros ran through eight pitchers over the course of the evening. At least they did get mainly strikes. Heehee. Baseball joke. According to the PBP, Wilson hit a sac fly to center, allowing my guy Willy Taveras (Dominicans Rule!) to score and win the game. \

They lost last night, barely squeaked a win tonight, so they BETTER do a MUCH better job tomorrow. They're at HOME for cripes sake. Minute Maid is one of the easiest parks to play in, so I've heard.

*****In other sports news close to my heart, Ricky Williams is sitting out another season with the Dolphins because he had another positive drug test - his fourth (I'm surprised there haven't been more, but the chemicals from the ganja don't stay in your system long enough if they're doing random tests and he isn't an every day kind of guy... though I have a feeling considering how sharp he was when he left UT and how blunted - pardon the pun - he is now that he does spark up every day.). My first year of closely following UT football, the year I was indoctrinated, as it were, was Ricky's Heisman year. So I was super-invested in seeing him do well. I knew he sparked up while here at school occasionally, but yeesh man.... if you know it's going to fuck your career, DON'T DO IT. Or, at least be honest from the get-go and say, "I thought I wanted to play, but now that I'm here, I really don't. So I'm leaving after this season," and stick it out for that one damn year and then leave. Don't leave under a haze of reefer, dude. It makes not only him look bad, but, also our school by association. (Granted, there are other schools who've cranked out some freaks and assholes - OU *cough*)
